What an employee in Kenya is owed when a job ends: salary, untaken leave, notice pay and redundancy severance.
What goes into it
- Salary for every day worked up to the last day.
- Untaken annual leave. You earn at least 21 working days a year, and leave not taken is paid out when the job ends.
- Notice. At least 28 days for someone paid monthly, unless the contract says more. The employer can pay it instead of having you work it.
- Severance on redundancy - at least 15 days’ pay for each completed year of service.
