Tickets for AFCON 2027 will be the hottest item in Nairobi, especially for Kenya’s matches. Here is what is known, what to expect based on recent tournaments, and how not to get scammed.
What is confirmed
- Tickets will be sold through CAF’s official channels - CAF’s website and its authorised ticketing partner.
- Ticket sales have not opened, and prices have not been announced, at the time of writing.
Any website, WhatsApp group or social media account selling AFCON 2027 tickets before CAF opens sales is a scam. Check the AFCON hub - we will add the official sales date as soon as it is announced.
What to expect
Based on recent AFCONs:
- Sales in phases - often a first general sale, then further sales once the draw and schedule are known, and sales for the knockout rounds.
- Online, mobile-first tickets - linked to your name and ID, shown on your phone at the gate.
- Price categories by seating area, with the cheapest seats behind the goals and higher prices for the main stand and hospitality.
- Higher prices for the opening match, semi-finals and the final.
- Kenya matches selling out first.
For the qualifiers played in Nairobi, the Football Kenya Federation sells tickets through its own official ticketing site. AFCON finals tickets are CAF’s.
Fan ID
Several tournaments have required a Fan ID - a free digital registration linked to your ticket and ID. For AFCON 2027:
- Uganda has said fans with a match ticket and Fan ID will get easier visa processing or a waived visa fee.
- A Fan ID platform is expected, but CAF and the hosts have not published the final rules.
If a Fan ID is required, register as soon as it opens: you may need it at the gate and at the border.
How to buy safely
- Only buy from CAF’s official site or its named partner. Type the address yourself rather than following links.
- Pay by card or M-Pesa on the official platform, never to a personal number.
- Keep the confirmation and your ticket in the official app or email.
- Buy early for Kenya matches.
Scams to avoid
- Early “presales” before official sales open.
- Social media sellers with “extra tickets” and prices that seem fair.
- Screenshots of tickets - easy to copy and sell many times.
- Touts outside the stadium. At CHAN 2024, fake and duplicated tickets added to the crushes at the gates.
- Fake Fan ID websites asking for payment or passport scans.
If you have been scammed, report it to the police and to the platform the seller used. See Reporting a crime.
Resale
If you can no longer go, use the official resale or transfer option if CAF offers one. Tickets tied to names may not work if bought second-hand.
Hospitality packages
CAF usually sells hospitality - seats with food and lounge access - through official partners. Check that any package is sold by an official partner.
No ticket?
Don’t go to the stadium without one. Watch at a fan zone, a bar or at home - see Watching AFCON in Nairobi.
